Photocopying
Associate Members
  • Photocopiers work with your library ID card plus User Name (NetID) and Password. Cost is 10c per page (A4).
  • Additional credit may be added to your library card at the Information Commons Helpdesk (ground floor, directly beneath the Philson Library). Payment is by Eftpos only.
  • If the photocopying is to be paid for by an ADHB department, staff should keep receipts and seek reimbursement in the usual way.

(Note: there is a system in place to allow you to photocopy while you are waiting for your library ID card to arrive).

Non – Associate Members

  • Photocopy cards may be purchased at the Philson Library Lending Desk for $5-00. Cards are loaded with $3 for copying (the card itself costs $2). Cost is 10c per page (A4).

  • Additional credit may be added at the Information Commons Helpdesk (ground floor, directly beneath the Philson Library). Payment is by Eftpos only.

  • If the photocopying is to be paid for by an ADHB department, staff should keep receipts and seek reimbursement in the usual way.

Departmental Photocopy Cards

  • ADHB departments may purchase a photocopy card (as outlined above for non-Associate Members) for use by its staff in the Philson Library.

  • Someone in the department must be responsible for managing the card - issuing it to departmental staff, ensuring its return, and topping it up with additional credit as needed.

  • It is recommended that no more than $20 credit be added to the card at any one time – if the card is lost or if the copying system changes in the future, it will not be possible to reimburse any outstanding amounts.

  • Philson Library cannot hold and manage the card on behalf of a department

Printing/Downloading
  • Printing works with your library ID card, Username (NetID) and password; cost is 10c per page.
  • You must have joined the library (see Philson Library Membership for details).  An initial credit of $10 has been added to your card for printing. Additional credit value for printing can be added to your card at the Information Commons (IC) Helpdesk located on the ground floor in the Information Commons. You will need to pay by EFTPOS – the IC Helpdesk does not accept cash. Our networked printing system allows you to print items such as articles from e-journals, or the results of a database search, when you are in the library.
  • In many cases, you can email articles to yourself and print them out on your work computer, rather than paying to print in the library.

Finding material to print:

  • Log in to a library computer with your University of Auckland User Name and Password. The login screen on the computer will ask you for:
-User Name (type in your User Name/NetID)
    -Password (type in your password)
-Domain (must be EC; choose from the dropdown menu if necessary)
  • When you have found material to print, select print to send the print job to the printing system - you can send multiple jobs.
  • When finished, log off the computer

Printing:

  • Library photocopiers are now used for printing, so go to one of the copiers in Philson Library (or other University of Auckland library).
  • You must have funds on your library ID card (see above).
  • Log in with your User Name (NetID) and Password (use the “login” button on the copier’s touch screen).
  • Press PRINT on the right-hand side of the touch screen (do NOT use the Printer button on the left side of the console).
  • Select the job(s) to print.
  • Select “Print” from the menu.
  • Your printing should appear shortly. PDFs may take a while to print.
  • Any problems, ask desk staff for help.

Note: there is a system in place to allow you to print while you are waiting for your library card etc to be posted to you.

NOTE: Many electronic (online) publications and documents are made available as PDF files for printing or downloading to your computer. To view and print PDF files you need the Adobe Acrobat Reader.  For information on installing or updating Adobe Acrobat on an ADHB computer click here.
