Trial - Read by QxMD

Keep up-to-date with current research in your area of practice

The library is trialling institutional access to Read by QxMD.  This means you can:

  • Gain access to free and ADHB subscription articles.
  • Set up a topic feed, or follow high-impact journals like the New England Journal of Medicine and the Lancet.
  • Read this content on the go using your iPad, iPhone, or Android device, as well as on your desktop.

Set up access

Create a Read by QxMD account, either on your desktop at https://read.qxmd.com/, or you will be prompted to do so on your device after downloading the app from the app store.

To access ADHB subscription resources you will need Library Associate Membership to connect your Read account to the ADHB institution, otherwise you will only get free content.

Connect your account on the web

  1. Log in to your Read by QxMD account at https://read.qxmd.com/
  2. Click on your name and select Change my institution.
  3. Select your institution and click Save e.g., select Auckland District Health Board (or select University of Auckland if you have student or honorary clinical access).
  4. When you select an article and access the full text you will be prompted to enter your institution's username and password. ADHB staff receive this with Library Associate Membership. University of Auckland students or honorary clinical appointments use your University username and password.

Connect your account on your device

  1. On your device, click on the Account Settings icon at the top-left corner.
  2. On the Account Settings page, select Institutional Access.
  3. Click on the Add (+) icon at the bottom-right.
  4. A list of institutions should appear. Search for and select Auckland District Health Board (or select University of Auckland if you have student or honorary clinical access).
  5. Select your login preference e.g., Automatic Login Using Library Login.
  6. Enter your institution's username and password. ADHB staff receive this with Library Associate Membership.
University of Auckland students or honorary clinical appointments use your University username and password.
  7. Click the Check icon at the top of the screen.
  8. You will be prompted to select an option. Select Save and Log In in order to login to your institution.
This option can also be used to make sure your credentials work properly as it immediately lets you know if the login succeeded or not. If you do not want to login yet, you can also choose Just Save, Don't Log In. This stores the password you entered, and will log you in when you click on an article you want to read.
    You're all set!
