Associate membership

All Te Toka Tumai Auckland staff have access to library resources and services. Joining as an Associate member provides additional benefits free of charge.

Associate membership lasts for 12 months, or until the expiry date on your Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland ID card or clinical attachment, whichever is earliest. We will email a reminder to renew your Associate membership.

Benefits of Associate membership

With Associate membership you can:

  • Borrow, request or renew books online.
  • Access Te Toka Tumai Auckland e-resources offsite / from home with your username and password.
  • Access a wider range of University of Auckland Library e-resources from a Library computer with your username and password.
  • Copy and print in the Library.

Without Associate membership, all Te Toka Tumai Auckland staff may access the following Library resources and services:

  • Te Toka Tumai Auckland e-resources from a Te Toka Tumai Auckland computer (no login required).
  • Request copies of journal articles or book chapters for work-related purposes.

Types of Library membership

There are two types of Associate membership. If you have an honorary clinical appointment, you may apply for a different membership.

Honorary clinical appointments

Te Toka Tumai Auckland staff with honorary clinical appointments may join as University staff and access University of Auckland Library online resources.

  • Contact the relevant University Head of Department for approval of new appointments and to renew existing appointments.
  • Once your appointment is approved you will receive instructions for obtaining your University Campus Card (ID) and username and password.

Borrowing and electronic access

This membership is recommended and includes:

  • A Campus Card (ID) for borrowing. You may request or renew books online.
  • A username and password for offsite/home access and to log on to University computers in the Library.
  • Copy and print in the Library.

Electronic access only

For staff who do not want to borrow or request books, a Campus Card (ID) is not required. This membership includes:

  • A username and password for offsite/home access and to log on to University computers in the Library.
  • Copy and print in the Library.

  • You need a current Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland ID card to apply for Library Associate membership.

Borrowing and electronic access

Bring your membership form and current Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland ID card to the Philson Library Helpdesk.

We will photocopy your Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland ID card and take your photo for your Campus Card (ID).

Email a passport-quality photo and scanned copies of your membership form and Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland ID card to adhblibrarylinks@auckland.ac.nz

A recent passport-quality photo is required for your Campus Card (ID). Photos should meet the standard requirements outlined below.

  • Either come to the Philson Library lending desk and we will take your photo

  • Email a recent digital passport photo to adhblibrarylinks@auckland.ac.nz
    You may take a photo yourself or get someone to take a photo for you. They will need to follow the standard requirements below:

Standard requirements for Campus Card (ID) photos

  • A recent, unedited photo, no more than two years old.
  • Against a plain, light-coloured background.
  • No sunglasses, hats, head coverings except for religious purposes.
  • In focus with a minimum of reflective light on the face and no shadows.
  • File format: jpg or jpeg
  • File size: between 500kb and 10MB.
  • Dimensions: Minimum 900 pixels wide x 1200 pixels high. Maximum 4500 pixels wide x 6000 pixels high.

We will email confirmation and post your Campus Card (ID) to your home address. Allow up to 10 working days for a Campus Card (ID).

Campus Card (ID)

Your Campus Card (ID)

  • Required for borrowing and requesting books and may be required as proof identification.
  • Expires every 6 years. Please retain your card on annual renewal of membership.
  • Bring your card when you visit the Library.
  • Your card may not be used by anyone else.
  • You are responsible for all items borrowed on your card.

Lost or stolen Library card

  • Please keep your Campus Card (ID) safe, as these cards are valid for up to 6 years.
  • If it is lost or stolen, contact us at Philson Library. We will assist in arranging a replacement.

Electronic access only

  • Bring your membership form and current Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland ID card to the Philson Library Lending Desk. We will photocopy your Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland ID card.

  • We will email confirmation to your home address.

Renew your Associate membership

Renew your Library membership, either by visiting the Philson Library or by emailing adhblibrarylinks@auckland.ac.nz

  • House Officers and Registrars – email your surname, first name, date of birth, physical home address and contact phone (mobile or work) to adhblibrarylinks@auckland.ac.nz
  • All other Te Toka Tumai Auckland staff – email adhblibrarylinks@auckland.ac.nz
    • Your surname, first name, date of birth, physical home address and contact phone (mobile or work).
    • A clear scanned copy of your Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland ID card. You must renew your Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland ID card if it has expired.

Your Campus Card (ID) and password will reactivate on renewal of your Associate membership.

  • Check the date of issue on the front of your Campus Card (ID). If it is older than six years, a new photo will be required.
