Requesting articles

Requesting books and chapters

Library Associate membership is required to request books. Before placing a request, check whether the book you want is available as an e-book in the Te Toka Tumai Auckland E-resources catalogue, or the University of Auckland Library Catalogue. E-books in the University of Auckland Library Catalogue are only available from a Library computer or you may request a copy of a chapter.

  • Fill in the Request an article or book form. Use this form if you want books delivered to a Greenlane or community site work address.
  • Associate members with a username and password may also use the request options in the University of Auckland Library Catalogue. See: How to request items from the Catalogue. Books requested here are delivered to Philson Library.
  • You may request books that are on loan or books at another campus.
  • Books not held by University of Auckland libraries are sourced externally via Interlibrary Loan. These can be renewed by contacting us (please include your Interloan number).
  • Books may be collected from the Philson Library or delivered to Greenlane and community sites via the internal mail.
  • Te Toka Tumai Auckland requirements and copyright conditions apply to requests for chapters.

When a book is requested from you

You have a minimum period of 5 days from the date of issue before a book you have on loan can be recalled/requested. We will email you if a book you have on loan has been recalled/requested by another patron.

  • You must return your book by the new due date, which overrides the original due date, preferably to the library you borrowed it from.
  • You have a maximum of 5 days from the date of the recall notice to return the item.
  • Your borrowing privileges may be blocked if you do not return it by the recall due date.
